Osamu Tezuka died at 62 from stomach cancer on February 9, 1989. He is currently buried in a Buddhist cemetary in Tokyo despite being agnostic (questioning the existence of a higher power). His last words were "I'm begging you, let me work!" to a nurse who had tried to take away his drawing equipment. It is such a tragedy that one of the greatest mangakas on the planet had to die from cancer, that horrible disease that takes away so many lives daily. For now, let us have a moment of silence for Osamu Tezuka, the godfather of anime.
